In Memoriam: Edward Salcedo

Edward Salcedo

Husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Edward Salcedo went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019.

Edward was born in Los Angeles, California, on Jan. 12, 1944, to Ignacio and Videla Salcedo. He had one sister and two brothers, Rosina Salcedo, Victor Salcedo and Nacho Salcedo. The family-owned and operated a famous landmark bakery called La Mascota Bakery in Los Angeles, California.

Edward married his wife, Connie Salcedo, on Mar. 31, 1984, and they shared a blessed life together with their children and grandchildren. Edward had one son, Eddie Salcedo, two daughters, Elizabeth Gilbert and Dina Onstott, and one step-daughter, Lisa Hedrick. Edward had nine grandchildren, Nickolas Salcedo, Layla Salcedo, Karina Salcedo, Melissa Alcron, Justine Gilbert, Hannah Gilbert, Jaden Onstott, Lilia Onstott and Natassia Wright. He also had two great-grandchildren, Cameron Johnson and Locklin Wright.

Edward worked 67 years at La Mascota Bakery and, soon after his retirement, he and his wife purchased their dream home in Canyon Lake in 2014. In Canyon Lake, Edward enjoyed making many beautiful memories with his family in his lakefront home. He loved lounging and relaxing with the beautiful scenery of the lake and the breathtaking views from his backyard.

Edward’s family takes comfort in knowing he is now home with the Lord rejoicing with his Savior and that this is not goodbye but will see him again soon.

Services for Edward Salcedo will be held at Rose Hills in Whittier, California, on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 9 a.m.
