Family Matters Club to host Halloween Carnival

The Canyon Lake Family Matters Club invites the community to its 6th annual Halloween Carnival and Costume Contest on Sunday, Oct. 20, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Holiday Harbor Park.

This family-friendly event includes trunk-or-treat, costume contests and parade, carnival game booths, a craft station, face painting, a dance party and vendors. Wristbands for kids cost $5.

The costume parade starts at 3 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes in various age groups.

New this year is a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot. The club invites families and businesses to decorate a vehicle or golf cart and pass out candy.

A grand prize of two Disneyland tickets will be awarded to the best trunk-or-treat vehicle/golf cart. Entry forms and decorating ideas can be found on the club’s website.

The club will have a costume shop featuring infant to adult size costumes for $5. Proceeds from the sale go back to the club to support its philanthropic projects.

Food, snacks and beverages will be offered at the snack bar.

Local vendors are invited to sell their items and holiday crafts. A cash prize will be awarded to the best-costumed booth. The cost is $40 per booth. Applications can be found on the club’s website.
The club is seeking sponsors and volunteers to work the event. Teens can earn volunteer hours.
