Swim lessons, water polo classes start Monday

Summer swimming lessons and water polo classes start on Monday at the lodge pool.

Swimming Lessons

Swimming lessons start June 17 and end Aug. 2. There will be no lessons from July 1 to July 5. The cost is $80 per week and $50 for a second week or additional child. Residents who purchase two weeks will receive the third week free. Only one free week per household is allowed. Additional weeks cost $45 per week.

Lessons are held Monday through Friday with a choice start time of 10:15 a.m. or 11 a.m. Lessons are 30 minutes.

Swim lesson levels offered are as follows:

Tot Swim: Face in water and introduction to water.

Level 1: Kicking and safety rules.

Level 2: Holding breath for three seconds, introduction to retrieving objects and turning back to front.

Level 3: Introduction to dive and retrieving objects with no support.

Level 4: Elementary backstroke, standing dive and treading water.

Level 5: Breaststroke, butterfly kick and alternate breathing.

Level 6: Front crawl 100 yards.

Level 7: Front crawl 200 yards, back crawl 100 yards and rescue skills.

Mommy and Me

Mommy and Me classes will be held July 8 through July 12. The cost is $35.

Adult Swim Lessons

Adult swim lessons, from beginners to perfecting technique, are available on request.

Water Polo

Water polo classes start June 17 and end Aug. 2. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $55 per week. Residents who purchase two weeks will receive the third week free. Only one free week per household is allowed. Additional weeks cost $45 per week. Participants must be able to swim 25 yards, which is the full length of the pool.

Week 1: Covers basic positioning, passing and shooting forms, as well as basic water polo lingo and communication.

Week 2: Covers all types of passing.

Week 3: Covers all types of shooting and proper form.

Week 4: Covers different types of offensive plays and positions.

Week 5: Covers different types of defensive plays and positions.

Week 6: Covers different types and positions for both offense and defense when up/down on a 6 on 5 and working on five meter penalty shots, including technique and how to draw a five-meter in play.

Water Aerobics Classes

Summer water aerobics classes run through Aug. 30. Get into shape while staying cool with this fun water cardio exercise. Learn effective and safe combinations of movement to strengthen the heart and tone the body.

Classes are held Monday through Friday at 8 and 9 a.m. and Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. Classes cost $2.50 per class, $20 for 10 classes, or $30 per month for unlimited classes. For more information about pool activities, contact the pool office at 951-244-6841, ext 617.
