Funds approved for Goetz Rd. block wall

The POA Board of Directors approved $251,954 for a block wall along Goetz Rd. The wall will replace the existing chain link fence and will tie into the existing masonry wall at the east gate.

The wall will have a five-coat waterproofing and anti-graffiti system with a 10-year warranty for easy graffiti removal. The system is suitable for a porous split face surface and will add value and life to the project.

The wall plans are designed and the city permits have been obtained. The RFP was issued on Feb. 13 and 10 bids were received. The contract was awarded to Sudweeks Construction for $242,264, plus a four percent project contingency, totaling $251,954 to come from the Capital Improvement Fund.

To save the additional costs, the project management will be handled in-house by the POA general manager and Operations without outside consultants.

The new wall will provide additional security, better aesthetic appeal, sound attenuation for nearby residents and bring Canyon Lake more aesthetically in line with neighboring communities.
