Letter: Speak to the Candidates

Editor, The Friday Flyer

In Canyon Lake, we have a board of directors election every year. With five board members serving two-year terms, there are either two or three open seats every year. This year, there are three open seats with five candidates looking for your votes.

Election Day in Canyon Lake is May 9, with the ballots scheduled to be mailed on Apr. 5. Are you informed about the qualifications and experience of the five candidates? What is their vision for the community? How will they make Canyon Lake better for everyone? Do they support the pump track? How will they handle the congestion at the main gate? Where do they stand on the dredging project? Where can you get the answers to all those questions?

In the 30 years I have been here, I have found the candidate forums to be the best source of information for our elections, especially the Speak to the Candidates Forum that has been held at the lodge for the past five years.

Organized by multiple clubs and organizations in the community, it’s a nonpartisan event that brings the candidates and the homeowners together to talk about important issues.

Attend the Speak to the Candidates Forum on Monday evening, Apr. 8, at 7 p.m. in the lodge and be informed before you vote.
