Concert promoter Doug Schultz announced that Chris James will be the opening act for the Great White concert next Saturday, Apr. 6, at the lodge.

The award-winning singer-songwriter has walked a long journey. Roads have taken Chris through the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and sent his music through Europe, Africa and several Asian countries.

Chris has shared the stage with national acts such as Sugar Ray, Hootie and the Blowfish, REO Speedwagon and Berlin.

The three-time San Diego Music Award winner performs up to 300 shows a year. His shows have won rave reviews with his mixture of live loops and harmonies.

Chris is the co-lead singer of Grand Sonic Theory, one of San Diego’s premier party bands. His former band, 34Below, achieved success with both national and independent releases garnering radio play across the globe.

Canyon Lakers may remember Chris from his performance at the lodge last year when he opened for Berlin. “Technical problems plagued his set last year so I want the residents of Canyon Lake to see and hear him again, it’s only right,” said Doug. “Chris James is awesome.”

Taking the stage after Chris will be Grammy-nominated rock band Great White. Lead singer Mitch Malloy will be joined by Mark Kendall on guitar, Michael Lardie on guitar and keyboards, Scott Snyder on bass and Audie Desbrow on drums.

“Their set will be a ride of an emotional wave of sultry connections, arousing lyrics and an all-out marathon of hard-hitting orchestrations,” said Doug.

Great White’s arsenal of songs includes Grammy-nominated Best Hard Rock Performance hit “Once Bitten, Twice Shy,” “Mista Bone,” “Save Your Love,” “House of Broken Love” and “Lady Red Light.”

The legendary rock band has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide and has six Top 100 Billboard hits, nine Top 200 Billboard albums and two platinum albums. The band continues to tour worldwide, logging nearly 400 dates in several states and countries in the last four years.

The band celebrated numerous milestones that included several sold-out performances, a return to Zurich, Switzerland’s Rock Im Tal Festival, the 10th anniversary of the M3 Rock Festival and a handful of intimate, acoustic performances.

General Admission tickets are sold out. There are a limited number of VIP tickets available at a cost of $64. Tickets can be purchased on the POA website at canyonlakepoa.com.

The band will host a Meet and Greet after the show.
