POA Board of Directors approve funding for LED lights at courts

The POA Board of Directors approved $39,000 to go toward the replacement of the Tennis Court lighting to LED lights.

At the January board meeting, the board approved the ratification of additional funding for the amount of $43,915 plus 2.5 percent contingency from the Repair and Replacement Fund 02-670 for a total project cost of $82,915.

The original proposal was to take the lowest bidder; however, the board ratified the original BAI for additional funding after comparing the generic parking lot style LED to a specialized tennis court sports lighting.

One court was done by a different vendor which specializes in tennis court lighting as a free test for the tennis community to play on and get their feedback.

The lighting output is 2.5 greater at 2.5 times the energy savings. This will save an estimated $9,000 in power per year.

The POA will save an additional average maintenance cost of approximately $900 per year with an estimated total payoff in nine years. Life expectancy is 20 plus years.
The POA received seven bids with the lowest being $39,000 and the highest $111,000 for all six courts. The lights have a ten-year warranty.

Aside from this project, other recent additions to the tennis courts include the installation of a new shed.
