CLCT dedicates benefactor show to Ilene Moore

Canyon Lake Community Theatre hosted its benefactor show, “Once Upon a Time,” on Oct. 21 in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. The show featured the works of Ilene Moore, who is battling small cell lung cancer.

Unbeknownst to Ilene, this year’s show was dedicated in her honor, both as a tribute to the amount of time, effort and love she has put into CLCT through the years and as a fundraiser to help offset the cost of Ilene’s treatments.

Numerous past and present club members were on hand to serenade Ilene with songs she either performed herself or musically directed.  A few of the performers, such as Don Vecchione and the Mistress of Ceremonies Barbara Egbert, traveled from out of state to attend this special show.

The show was under the direction of Ilene’s friend, Leslie Vecchione, who came up with the with the concept and assembled many past and present members to perform.

The proceeds from the raffle and silent auction and part of the proceeds from ticket sales were donated to Ilene. Member Bobbie Starr also started a GoFundMe account to help offset Ilene’s medical expenses. To donate, visit GoFundMe.com and search “Ilene Moore’s Cancer Treatment Fund.”

The CLCT Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who attended the show, those who traveled to be involved either directly in the production or as part of the audience, Stephanie Vecchione for the choreography, Mark Nathanson for the sound, Janice Myre for the video tribute and the following 2018-2019 benefactors: Dr. Robinson of Canyon Lake Dentistry, Yavette DeVere and family, Robert and Nicole Garvito, Steve and Sharlene Landau, Art and Dee Zasio, Randy and Tammy Revard, Lois Bevins, Coldwell Banker Associate Brokers Realty Sue Collins and Margaret McCoy and ME Business Brokers George Middle.

The purpose of the Canyon Lake Community Theatre is to provide the community with access to the performing arts by providing a platform and showcase for local talent.
