Library Card Sign Up Month ends on Sunday. Incentives are offered to those who sign up for a new library card in the month of September. In addition to a food coupon, new library card applicants will receive a drawing ticket for a Riverside County Library System filled drawstring pack that includes a water bottle, earbuds, sunglasses and other items. The winner will be selected on Monday, Oct. 1.

Fire Prevention Week begins Oct. 7. The fire professionals of Canyon Lake Fire Station 60 will be at the library for Miss Ginny’s Story Time on Oct. 5 at 11:30 a.m. Miss Ginny’s Story Time is developed for preschoolers and meets every other Friday.

The library’s Story Time program for children ages 3 and younger are held every Monday in the Kid’s Cove at the library and includes an interactive story make and take home craft.

Teens and younger students needing assistance with school subjects can find help at the library on Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m. High school students are available to assist younger students with their studies.

Students should bring the information needed to communicate what they need assistance with and any tools required. If computer use is needed, a USB will be needed to save work. Volunteer opportunities are available at the library for teens both in tutoring and helping with library support.

The library’s Adult Book Club meets on the last Monday of each month at 4 p.m. The book for October is “The Shoemaker’s Wife” by Adriana Trigiani. Books are available at the library or can be requested from the RCLS catalog at rivlib.net. New participants are always welcome.
