City to hold 7th annual Turkey Drive Nov. 16

The City of Canyon Lake is holding its 7th annual Turkey Drive on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. at city hall. The city invites residents to give the gift of a Thanksgiving meal by donating frozen turkeys and other food items.

The food collected will be donated to Helping Our People in Elsinore (H.O.P.E.). Services provided by H.O.P.E. help to benefit families in Canyon Lake.

Clubs, businesses and residents are encouraged to participate in the program to enable the community’s most vulnerable residents and their families to enjoy the holidays this year.

In addition to frozen turkeys, the following items are needed: whole frozen chicken, stuffing mix, gravy mix, canned mushroom soup, canned green beans, canned yams, hot chocolate and coffee, cake and cookie mix, brown sugar, miniature marshmallows, cornbread mix and other nonperishable items.

Last year, 97 frozen turkeys and 26 bags of fixings were donated during the two-hour food drive.
