CLEPC install officers, sets goals for new year

The Canyon Lake Emergency Preparedness Committee (CLEPC) installed its new 2016-2017 board members this month. The new president is Larry Greene, a position previously held by Nancy Carroll for 25 years.

“None of the former board members are leaving the committee. We just felt that it was time for some new people to step in and get their feet wet,” says Nancy. “Should any of us decide to move from Canyon Lake, having new board members now would make it a smoother transition and the committee would be able to run as if we were still here.”

Other new board members include Sparrow Green and David Eilers. Sparrow replaced Sharon Eilers as secretary, a position Sharon held for 10 years, and David replaced John Guzman, who served as the committee’s  treasurer for six years. At the committee’s September 1 meeting, members compiled a list of goals for 2016/2017. Damage assessment, CPR/AED training, shelter and food services, self and home preparedness, establishing a social media information page and recruitment were some of the goals discussed.

Members of the CLEPC, and those interested in becoming members, are encouraged to attend meetings and watch for training opportunities in areas of interest. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month in the Multi-purpose Room in the City Hall Building.
