Check out upcoming activities at the CL Library

The Canyon Lake Library will be open regular hours today and tomorrow, September 2 and 3; it will be closed Monday, September 5, for Labor Day.

With the back-to-school schedule now in effect, Miss Ginny Furnish returned to the Library last Friday for Preschool Craft and Story Time featuring an Olympic theme and music by Bill Evans. Mary Munson was on hand to take pictures. The Story Time team will be back on September 9 at 11:30 a.m. with the theme, “It’s a Teddy Bear Picnic.” Children are welcome to bring their favorite teddy bear.

Also that Friday, September 9, the Teen Advisory Board will meet  at 4:30 p.m. to assist the Library in providing desired services to the area’s teen community. Volunteer hours can be earned through participation in the advisory board.

On Monday, September 12, at 10 a.m., the Library will partner with Jenny Teperson to hold a “birthday celebration” for Curious George. The beloved story character, created by Hans Augusto Rey, is 75 years old this year. Cake and ice cream will be served, along with games and a party craft children can take home.

Young people needing tutoring help with school subjects or to prepare for SAT testing are invited to come to the Library each Saturday, from 10 to 11 a.m. “Roots to Grow Tutoring” and SAT preparation is offered by high school honor students. SAT standardized testing is used by many colleges for admission evaluation.

The Canyon Lake Library is located inside the City Hall building. It’s open Mondays, 10 to 7, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 to 6, and Saturdays 10 to 3. It’s closed Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The Canyon Lake Library is a member of the Riverside County Library System (www.rivlib.net) honoring cards and returns from other affiliated libraries. It has a Facebook page. For more information, call 951-244-9181.
