Letter: Time for Revolt

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

I wrote about the unchecked billable hour parade that we pay for 24 hours a day, seven days a week about 90 days ago. Very little real progress has taken place since then except for the attorneys constantly billing us and being paid in full and on time.

We continue to pay hundreds of dollars an hour for not only the attorney representing Canyon Lake but potentially EVMWD’s attorneys as well. The clock never stops ticking. I emphasize again – none of these attorneys really want the gravy train to end.

Ask yourselves, would you ever want to stop receiving $15-20,000 per month for spouting off arcane legal theories that take up hour after hour of debate?

It’s time for a revolt. Get rid of the attorneys. Call up the EVMWD management and set up a breakfast meeting or perhaps a couple of beers at the Sports Stop and make a deal person to person. I’m pretty sure they are just as sick of this as we all are. Stop the insanity of endless fees being paid to attorneys who have no dog in the hunt and in reality, never want the game to end.
