Letter: Roadrunners Trip

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

Thank you and the staff of The Friday Flyer for the wonderful article about the Canyon Lake Roadrunner Club’s recent trip to Palm Desert. Just another reason to join one of the many clubs in our “Bit of Paradise!”

However, we can’t take credit for starting the annual trip to Palm Desert to watch the iconic Bob Hope Golf Classic. Ken and Blanche Stark, along with many Canyon Lake friends who played golf and owned RVs, began this traditional January gathering about 30 years ago.

Going to Emerald Desert RV Resort for five days of following golf, potlucks, social hours and yes, biscuits and gravy. Robb and I participated with many of the former members for several years and now have the privilege of carrying on the tradition after the Starks “retired from RV-ing.”

Once again, following in the Roadrunner tradition, this trip had excellent help with a committee of volunteers – Bob and Bonnie Carnagey, John and Lou De Young and Bud and Alicia Hanner – to help with the planning and organizing of various activities and meals.
