Men’s Golf Sweetheart Tourney

The Men’s Golf Sweetheart Tournament will be held Sunday, February 14, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The cost is $40 per person (green fee and cart rental not included) and the format is Four Player Tin Whistle. There will be gross and net winners for each flight and an award for Sweetheart Couple of 2016. The post-tournament lunch will be at the Country Club. Sign up by February 10 in the Pro Shop. The Men’s Golf Club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) and holds regular open meetings the first Wednesday of each month in the Magnolia Room at the Country Club.

Women’s Golf Valentine Tourney

The theme or the annual Canyon Lake Women’s Valentine Golf Tournament on February 9 will be “My Funny Valentine.” This will be a four-person scramble, with both gross and net payouts, open to all Women’s Club members at a cost of $35. The deadline to sign up in the Golf Pro Shop is January 31. For more information, contact Linda Johnson or Linda Kamashian.

The Women’s Golf Club meets regularly on Tuesdays to play 18 holes of golf.  TLWGC is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association, responsible for handicapping services for members. Applications are available in the Pro Shop. For more information, contact Sue Sell at 951-443-5940.

After Lunch Bunch

Last Friday’s game was 1-2-3 Waltz. Winners were as follows:

1st: Bob Stinson, Nick Valencia, Jim Musser and Marv Tweedy, 116

2nd: Ulf Grefelt, Hugh Wagoner, Neal Wagerle and Randy Bonner, 120

3rd: Ulf Sandegren, Joe Strong, Lee Lilly and guest Parents, 121

Skins winners were Harry Larson, Bobby Gunter, Nick Valencia, Hal Stiffler and Ulf Grefelt.

Spokesperson Jim Magill says, “Ask any golfer, a hole-in-one requires one good shot and a lot of luck. An eagle requires two good shots and a lot of luck. On Friday, January 22, Ulf Grefelt scored one of these rare eagles when his third shot on the Par 5 18th hole found the cup. Congratulations Ulf!”

Next week’s game will be Partners Best Ball; players may pick their own foursome.. The After Lunch Bunch is now in the 36th year of providing a Friday game for any male golfer with a handicap.

Sign up between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m. in the Magnolia Room, or by phone at 249-4565 or 237-6102. The weekly game is open to all Canyon Lakers with an established handicap. The entry fee is $5; there is an optional skins game for an additional $5.

9ers Golf

The 9ers Golf Club is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association. The group meets in the Magnolia Room at 9:30 a.m. each Thursday before heading out to play nine holes of golf. Family Golf Club

The Family Golf Club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA). It holds open meetings the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the Country Club.  Members play Wednesday afternoons.
