Wake up Canyon Lake. We are on a treacherous road. This fight with the water district is out of control. We stated we paid our lease. They sent back our lease and check saying we are still out of compliance and now owe approximately $130,000 in fees before they will reinstate our lease.

This has gone far enough. We need to get the POA and water board to work out a reasonable lease. Lawyers’ thinking this is a tax, on rate tied to some proposition, is a pipe dream in my opinion. The lease was signed and agreed to by both parties; that’s not to say we can’t negotiate it.

Let’s not keep filling the pockets of attorneys on both sides. Canyon Lakers need to go to Board meetings and keep the pressure on both the water district and the POA to resolve this issue.

Let’s focus on what a deal Canyon Lake is and stop the nonsense of selling the golf course, closing restaurants and unwarranted legal action on the lake lease. People, think of what you have here for $230 per month: private golf course, private security, swimming pool, equestrian center, numerous parks, senior center, lake maintenance, marine patrol, campgrounds, lodge, country club, pro shop and all the personnel to maintain these facilities.

Folks, this is a cheap date. Tuscany Hills is $170 a month; with Mello Roos it is well over $300 a month. I could name complex after complex with half the amenities we have that charge over $300 a month. Let’s get our Board to attend these meetings to come up with a fair and equitable agreement. Otherwise, Canyon Lake loses its uniqueness, and our property values will plummet if we stick to this mentality.
