Car Club to display autos Sunday at ‘A True American Hero’ event at Audie Murphy Ranch

Canyon Lake residents who have always wanted to check out the new neighbors at the Audie Murphy Ranch development have a good excuse this weekend. On Sunday, March 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Homebuilder Brookfield Residential is hosting a public event, “A True American Hero,” at the Audie Murphy Ranch Sports Park, 30376 Lone Pine Dr. in Menifee. The family event will include food, K-FROG radio and classic cars provided by the Canyon Lake Car Club.

It is designed to honor local members of the military, veterans, firefighters and law enforcement professionals, as well as celebrate the legacy of Audie Leon Murphy, the community’s namesake. Murphy was the most decorated U.S. combat soldier of World War II. He later became a movie star and appeared in 44 films before settling on the land that is now Audie Murphy Ranch, where he raised horses.

Paloma Valley High School Band will kick off the day’s festivities with a live performance at 11 a.m., and country music station K-FROG will be on site with giveaways including passes to the 2015 Stagecoach country music festival.

Other festivities will include a classic car show with automobiles from the Canyon Lake Car Club, and gourmet fare being served throughout the community from food trucks such as The Grilled Cheese Truck, Devilicious Food Truck, Sprinkles Cupcakes and more.

The 1,100-acre Audie Murphy Ranch property borders an ecological preserve, with trails and paseos connecting residents to the community amenities.
