DECEMBER 9, 2016 THE FRIDAY FLYER Over 400 participate in Holiday Home Tour
A-5
This year’s “Once Upon a Christmas” Holiday Home Tour, sponsored by the Woman’s Club, had more people attend than in previous years.
Woman’s Club President Jan May says, “We had over 400 participants at- tend the tour. This was the best Home Tour we ever had.”
Five two-story decorated homes were featured on the December 4 tour that be- gan at the Lodge where self-guided tour maps were handed out and attendees en- joyed a Christmas tree, centerpiece and wreath opportunity drawing, holiday boutique and complimentary coffee and baked goods.
There were 11 opportunity drawing winners. The big winner was Carmel Lemke who won a decorated Christmas tree that included $100 cash.
The tour featured the homes of Ro- land and Melody Clark, Chris and Bar- bara Poland, Steven and Alexis Prince, Randy and Mavis Schultz and Steve and Melissa Usary.
The home of Roland and Melody Clark on Cascade Dr. boasted a beauti- ful tree in their main living area and a glimpse of Santa sliding down the chim- ney.
The Clark’s say their home is still a “work in progress,” but the craftsman- ship and warmth of the Clark’s home already make it a delight for guests to visit.
The home of Chris and Barbara Po- land made guests feel like cuddling up by the Christmas tree to enjoy some hot cocoa.
The Poland’s home was decorated with a unique collection of nativity scenes, Christmas trees and ornaments that the Poland’s have collected from their world travels. The decorations un- der the tree were from the 1940s.
Steven and Alexis Prince’s home on Outrigger Dr. featured a Mr. and Mrs. Claus room where Santa was compiling his naughty or nice list while Mrs. Claus was busy reading up on a book as she rested her feet on an easy chair.
The Prince’s had a jolly treat for guests on the lower level where a live Santa was waiting to greet guests and posed for picture with them.
The lower level also featured a game room and an original photographic col- lege of Steven’s memorable 15 years as an actor.
The home of Randy and Mavis Schutz on Wood Duck Pl. displayed a beautiful holiday village that made guests wish they could step inside that little world for those 12 days of Christmas.
The rear of the home boasts views of the damn, hills, campground and lake. Randy and Mavis traveled extensively and their home reflects their journeys and travels. Randy’s “man cave” has an impressive collection of sports memora- bilia from his sons and others.
The “story book” home of Steve and Melissa Usary on Calcutta Dr. had holiday decorations in every room. The whimsical courtyard was decorated with snow and Christmas trees. There were holiday decorations in every room.
The home is a sea of turquoise blue,
