Justin and Ashley Pfeffer, along with their three children, moved their family to Canyon Lake in August 2013 when Jason, a hovercraft pilot in the Navy, was stationed at Camp Pendleton. Ja- son has been serving the country for 13 years. The Pfeffers are a proud military family. “You will always see our flag raised,” says Ashley.
The couple was shown property in Canyon Lake and instantly fell in love with it and all it has to offer. “We saw so many possibilities here and loved the idea of lake living,” says Ashley. The Pfeffers purchase a boat shortly af- ter purchasing their home. Boating and making memories together as a family on the lake is what they enjoy most.
The Pfeffer’s children, five-year-old Austin, three-year-old Luke and one- year-old Benjamin, enjoy outdoor ac- tivities and playing at the many parks in Canyon Lake. “The parks help to keep our kids busy and active,” says Ashley.
The Pfeffers say Taco Tuesday are a family favorite and that the excitement of the Fourth of July in Canyon Lake is a one-of-a-kind experience.
Christmas is another favorite time of the year for the Pfeffers who enjoy driv- ing around the lake looking at decorated homes with the kids. Ashley says the Boat Parade, Golf Cart Parade and other events where Santa is involved makes living in Canyon Lake a dream for the kids. “It’s wonderful for the parents not to have to travel far to enjoy so many holiday festivities,” says Ashley.
The parks and all that Canyon Lake
has to offer helps to keep Ashley and her children busy when Justin is deployed. The last nine months Justin has been on deployment, and raising their children on her own during this time, has been tough.
When Justin is away Ashley often spends time in San Diego where she has a lot of family and friends. She is thank- ful for the help and moral support they give her while Justin is away.
Although it’s tough at times, Ashley says being a military wife has made her stronger. She says, “My husband is the rock of our family for sure, but it’s nice knowing that I have the ability to take that place for our children when I need to.”
Working on her new business BV Enterprises, a company that specializes in logo, web design and social media, while her husband is away is also dif- ficult for the mother of three. The expe- rience though has taught her that every- thing she needs to be successful is inside of her. Ashley says her mindset is very important. “Just taking life one day at time has become my focus,” she says.
Since moving to Canyon Lake, Ash- ley has become involved in Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS). Having three boys under the age of six and running her own business keeps this mom very busy for now but she hopes to become involved in the Jr. Women’s Club some- time in the near future.
Ashley has a dream of seeing herself traveling around the world speaking to female business owners like herself. She wants to empower, uplift and motivate other women to achieve their dreams.

The Pfeffers have a strong faith in God and a great outlook on life. If Ash- ley could teach the world something valuable she says it would be to love each other again. “There is to much hate
in this world right now and I think the only hope our world has for change is in the hands of our youth,” she says, “I hope to raise my sons to be the change this world needs.”
