Rick and Gail Houser’s “Trailer on Top” golf cart won them an award in 2014. Last year the Housers dressed in costume

Santa will be leading the parade again this year. Those wishing to donate to the
Toy Drive may do so by giving Santa an unwrapped toy as he passes by.
Don’t miss the Golf Cart Parade on Sunday
Decorated golf carts will be parading on Canyon Lake Drive this Sunday, De- cember 11, for the 6th annual Golf Cart Parade and Toy Drive.
The annual Golf Cart Parade and Toy Drive, hosted by the Street Carts of Canyon Lake Club, started in 2011 with about 20 golf carts, Last year, 47 golf carts participated.
Organizers are hoping to surpass that number this year. “The creativity gets bigger and better every year too,” says Street Carts of Canyon Lake Club Presi- dent Mike Shroyer.”
Mike’s hope is that the number of toys donated this year will be a record breaker too. Last year, participants and parade watchers donated approximately 300 toys.
Residents interested in participating
in the parade should decorate their golf carts with holiday lights and meet at the staging area on the corner of Canyon Lake Dr. South and Blue Bird Dr. be- tween 5 and 5:30 p.m.
The gathering at the staging area is part of the fun. “It’s like one big block party,” says a resident who participated in the parade last year.
Santa Claus and his sleigh cart will lead the procession beginning at 6 p.m. The parade will travel on Canyon Lake Dr. almost to the East Gate. The turn around is at Windward Dr. From there the parade will travel on Canyon Lake Dr. to Canyon Club Dr., ending at the Lodge where the toys will be collected and Mike will present five awards in various categories.
Residents who are not participating in

Spectators also are invited to partake in the Toy Drive by giving an unwrapped toy to Santa or any of the golf carts as

drive by. The toys will be collected at the end of the parade at the Lodge.
The club plans to donate the toys to the Calvary Canyon Hills Food Pantry, an organization Mike and his wife are involved in, and to HOPE, an organi- zation that serves residents of Canyon Lake.
