Tuesday is Canyon Lake 'PJammin Day'
In support of childhood cancer awareness the City Council approved Reso- lution No. 2016-32, declaring Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, as the of- ficial Canyon Lake PJammin Day.
Residents are encouraged to wear pajamas to the voting polls at City Hall where the City will have a table set up with literature on childhood cancer awareness. Mayor Tim Brown says, “Setting up the table won’t cost the City anything and hopefully it will accomplish its intended goal of promoting child- hood cancer awareness. Maybe it will get a few extra people to vote and give people something to think about.”
Spokesperson for the American Childhood Cancer Organization says, “Chil- dren with cancer often spend months, even years, dressed in their pajamas at home or in the hospital while undergoing critical treatments such as chemo- therapy, surgery and radiation. The Pjammin program is a simple, fun way to celebrate these children, join in the fight to beat childhood cancer and provide hope.”
The Mayor says this is an issue near and dear to his heart. “We have children in Canyon Lake with childhood cancer and the reality of the situation is that it’s something so painful to think about that most people ignore the issue and don’t want to think about it. I believe that the more awareness we can put out there about childhood cancer, the more people will think about it. Hopefully we can motivate this world to do something about this problem."
