NOVEMBER 4, 2016 THE FRIDAY FLYER A-5 Candidates Clarify campaign questions . . .
Caregivers Connection
When your role changes from spouse to caregiver, child to caregiver, or concerned loved one to caregiver and your plans and dreams crash to the ground, how can you pick up the pieces and form a new dream: one that shows compassion, love and respect without being resentful?
Members of Caregivers Connection are invited to hear Pat Van Dyke discuss these role changes when she presents “Defining a Caring Heart” on Monday, November 14. The support group will meet from 10 a.m. to noon in Room 6 in the gym of the Canyon Lake Community Church.
Men and women who provide care for their husbands, wives or parents for illnesses such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, heart issues or Par- kinson’s are invited to attend Caregivers Connection, which meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month.
For more information about this support group, contact facilitator Jo Ann Wickerath at 679-7736 or assistant facilitator Bev Haney at 244-8711.

I have no other political agenda but to work for my fellow citizens of Canyon Lake and I ask for your vote on Novem- ber 8th. With fairness, honesty and in- tegrity and my sincerest thanks, I ask for your consideration.

BLM Development has been a hot issue in The Friday Flyer and on so- cial media (Facebook) the last couple of months. Most facts are true; some result of misinformation
and a small percent- age arouses emotion without checking the accuracy first.
The decision to
dispose BLM land
will be made within
the Department of
Interior in Wash-
ington D.C. – NOT
Canyon Lake. The first offer would be for the City of Canyon Lake to purchase. Another alternative is for a developer to buy land to extend existing BLM proper- ty and then “transfer” the extended BLM land for development of the BLM land in the City.
The time plan to dispose BLM land is unknown. The presentation at the last City Council meeting mentioned much less than 1,000 homes.
The essence is for Canyon Lake to re- main as a City. The City would take the lead on how and when the property is de- veloped – roads, parks, schools, etc. paid by the new home owners.
The BLM property that can be devel- oped for new homes and new property taxes for the City is east of the north
causeway. Entrance to this would be roads along Goetz Rd., which would be within the City. For it to become part of the POA it would take a vote of the POA members and a vote of the people in the new project.
The BLM land west of the North Causeway is rugged terrain and not con- ducive for building new homes. This property could be used for horse and bi- cycle riding, hiking trails and other ad- venture activities, which already exist.
The election is coming next Tuesday, November 8. I would like to thank the Committee to Elect Randy Bonner City Council 2016 members. They have been giving me insight and encouragement throughout. I appreciate three “Meet and Greets.” I appreciate that The Friday Flyer allows us to advertise, include a full page of over 150 citizens of “Some of My Canyon Lake Supporters” and a flyer inserted last Friday (October 28).
Now is the time to have a councilman who has true POA and City Council ex- perience, demonstrates the ability to get results, and a history of being a leader - military, business and local government.
I have been proud to call this “Bit of Paradise” home for over 20 years and I’m asking for your vote so I can serve you on your City Council.
Voting polls will be open at City Hall on Tuesday, November 8,
from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The deadline to return absentee ballots by mail is November 8.
