The Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club held its 31st annual Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday. Kids ages five to 15 reeled in fish for trophies and prizes. Every child who participated went home with a prize. Four lucky raffle winners went home with a bicycle. Marilyn Moreno was the winner of a special opportunity drawing for a Lily Pad. Participants and their families were treated to a complimentary lunch.
Trophies were awarded in different age groups (five to seven, eight to 11 and 12 to 15) plus one for “Big Fish” in each species and “Big Fish” for one boy and one girl. The winners are as follows:
Big Fish winners:
Girl: Sailor Denten, 8.86 lbs.
Boy: Carter Miller, 8.83 lbs.
Big Fish in each species:
Blue gill: River Hollenbaugh, .34 lbs.
Crappie: Brandon Helbock, .20 lbs.
Catfish: Michael Pulley, 8.75 lbs.
Overall winners five to seven age group:
1st place: Aidain Moreno, 15.50 lbs.
2nd place: Reed Brenton, 5.30 lbs
3rd place: Paisley Siepker, 3.51 lbs.
Overall winners eight to 11 age group:
1st place: Ella Taylor, 12.30 lbs.
2nd place: Dex Brysac, 10.32 lbs
3rd place: Colin Miller, 6.78 lbs.
Overall winners 12 to 15 age group:
1st place: Jenna Lane, 11.64 lbs.
2nd place: Kylee Moreno, 9.32 lbs.
3rd place: Tavia Fontenot, 6.98.

The Bassmasters Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club.
