In Memoriam: Jim Lewis

Jim Lewis passed away August 30, 2017. Jim and his family are 30-year residents of Canyon Lake. He was a member of the Men’s Golf Club and loved being a part of the golfing community.

Jim was born on March 21, 1950. He grew up in the cities of Lakewood and Long Beach. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1967 and was a proud member of the 1966 Moore Championship Football Team. He graduated from Cal State Long Beach in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in business and in 1972 with a master’s degree in management. His career started at Firestone Tire Company in Southgate, then worked a short time with the U.S. Postal Service followed by Denso in Long Beach.

In 1987, Jim opened American Industrial Manufacturing Services (AIMS), a remanufacturing plant in Temecula. AIMS remanufactured starters and alternators, and expanded when they moved the plant to Murrieta a few years later. He retired in March 2013.

Jim enjoyed golfing, woodworking, spending time with his kids and grandkids and traveling with his wife.

Jim is survived by his wife, Peggy, of 47 years, four children and their spouses: Matt (Amanda); Steve (Luke): Diane (Gute); Chris (Ashley). His eight grandchildren are  Maddie and Nate; Alex and Jessie; Julia and Connor; Emily and Paige. He is also survived by his brother, Dan and wife Cheryl, and sister Susan and husband David.

John will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, grandpa and brother, as well as a mentor to many. A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. at Evans Brown Mortuary,  27010 Encanto Dr, Sun City, CA. A celebration of Life for the Canyon Lake Golf Community will be held on Sept. 18, at 3 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Golf Course. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
