Bill Van Dyke reeled in a 9.5 catfish from his dock on Gold Cove using bacon as his bait.

Bill’s Canyon Lake fishing career began at the age of three. Since that time he has acquired a large collection of antique reels and owns 18 fishing poles varying from deep sea to crappie.

Bill, a student at the Adult Transition Program at Ortega High School, practices his fishing skills nearly every day at various places in Canyon Lake. He can usually be found fishing from his dock, at Holiday Harbor, from the north causeway, or at East Port. Bill is strictly “catch and release.”
