New programs for kids, adults coming to library

The Canyon Lake Library has new programs for children and adults. Writer’s Club is a new program for middle school age children. Creative expression using the written word will be the focus. The club meets at 12:30 p.m. every Monday starting June 5.

The library will have three ongoing programs for ages 18 and under. The first for fashion design where stuffed animals are dressed and photographed. The second for designing a solution to a common problem which includes a prototype (if used) and a statement of the issues identified and how the solution addresses them. The third for jewelry design where jewelry components will be available for creating new fashions; designers keeps what they created and the library keeps a photo.

The Library will hold two information programs targeted for adults but open to all ages.  On Saturday, June 24th, at 12 p.m. Patent Agent Ben Hudson will be at the library to explain the process for gaining a patent with the U. S. Patent Office for that wonderful invention to make everyone’s live easier.

On Saturday, July 15, essential oils will be the topic of information and questions from the community.  The program provided by Jerry and Ruth Eckman, doTerra wellness advocates, will provide information on how essential oils can help our bodies heal and strengthen the immune system.

The library has new family programs targeted for children. Petals the Clown face painting will be held on June 21 from 12 to  2 p.m. Steampunk will be held on June 26 at 3 p.m.. A kid’s reptile party featuring live snakes and lizards will be held on July 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. Space Racers with outer space activities will be held July 31 from 2 to 5 p.m.

The library’s regular programs will continue through the summer. Toddler Story Time meets on Mondays at 11 a.m. Computer Help meets Mondays at 4 p.m.. Tutoring meets Wednesdays at 4 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m.

Miss Ginny’s Story Time meets June 2 at 11:30 a.m. and then will not meet again until August.

All programs at the Canyon Lake Library are free to the public and do not require library membership.

The Canyon Lake Library is located inside the City Hall building. It’s hours of operation are Mondays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The library is closed Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
