Learn to write novels

Want to write a novel? The Canyon Lake Library is celebrating November’s National Novel Writing Month on Monday, November 9, at 3 p.m. by hosting author May Sinclair, PhD to discuss tips on writing novels. She’ll discuss how to get started and get organized, how to develop characters and getting involved with writing groups. She’ll also answer specific questions would-be authors may have.

Dr. Sinclair has published nine books in both fiction and non-fiction. Her most recent publication is “The Beginning Begins,” which is the second book in the “In the Between” fiction trilogy.

“Under the Sea in an Octopus Garden” will be the theme for Miss Ginny’s Story Time today, November 6, at 11:30 a.m. This preschool level story time program is open to the community. No library card is needed to attend this or any program at the Canyon Lake Library. Children will enjoy stories, music and a craft they can take home. This and other programs are supported by the Friends of the Canyon Lake Library.

The Canyon Lake Library will be closed on Veterans Day, Wednesday November 11. The book drops will be available and all online services will be accessible at www.rivlib.net.

The Canyon Lake Library is located inside the City Hall building. It’s open Mondays, 10 to 7, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 to 6, and Saturdays 10 to 3. For more information, call 951-244-9181.
