Plan to help others through Turkey and Food Drive

The City of Canyon Lake is supporting a Frozen Turkey and Food Drive for HOPE (Helping our People in Elsinore). Residents and businesses are encouraged to drop off frozen turkeys and the list of food items below to complete a Thanksgiving and Holiday Dinner for neighbors in need.

Currently there are more than 100 families in Canyon Lake receiving weekly food donations. Residents, businesses and clubs are encouraged to participate in the program to enable the community’s most vulnerable residents and their families to enjoy the holidays this year.

On November 19, from 2 to 4 p.m., grocery bags filled with turkeys and food items may be dropped off at Canyon Lake City Hall, 31516 Railroad Canyon Rd. Here is a suggested checklist of items to be included in the grocery bag to complete the dinner provided:

• Frozen Turkey
• Stuffing mix, gravy mix
• Canned mushroom soup
• Canned green beans
• Canned yams, brown sugar
• Miniature marshmallows
• Cornbread mix
• Hot chocolate or coffee
• Cake or cookie mix
• Other miscellaneous items
