Young ladies are invited to mark their calendars! The Miss Canyon Lake Scholarship Pageant is coming Saturday, May 21, at 6 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Lodge. Applications are being accepted from Canyon Lake residents between the ages of 2 to 25. Sign up Monday, March 14, from 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. in the Pool View Room at the Lodge.
This competition offers a scholarship award to the contestant who is crowned “Miss Canyon Lake.” All others award- ed titles will serve as part of the Royal Court assisting Miss Canyon Lake at various events throughout the commu- nity.
The Miss Canyon Lake portion of the competition involves interviews and on- stage questions for contestants 15 years and older. All divisions compete in an evening gown and fun fashion segment. This program is designed to mentor the Royal Court in giving back to the com- munity by way of volunteering.
The pageant has been a tradition for many years in Canyon Lake, promoting cultural, civic and educational develop- ment and community service. The Royal Court attends various events in Canyon Lake such as the Christmas Boat Parade, Christmas Tree Lightings, Fiesta Day, Parade of Frights, Easter Egg Hunt, etc. The Royal Court also interfaces with the community assisting clubs with fund- raisers.
In addition, Miss Canyon Lake is required to have a platform outlining a community service program that she will be actively promoting throughout the community.
