Grammy nominated and Dove award- winning contemporary country music artist Ty Herndon will be performing unplugged at Canyon Lake on Saturday, Sept. 9, in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. Ty is the third act in the POA's 2017 "Concerts at the Lodge" series.
Ty Herndon concert tickets are just $25 for general admission: $50 for re- served VIP seats. Doors open at 6:30. Tickets are available through the POA website and at Member Services at the POA office.
Ty has a career spanning two decades. He's charted 17 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Song chart with five million albums sold. His 20-year music career resulted in four number one smash hits: "What Mattered Most," "Living in the Moment," "It Must Be Love" and "Loved Too Much."
In 2010, Ty received a Grammy award nomination in the Best South- ern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Al- bum category for "Journey On." He also received a Dove award that same year for Best Bluegrass Recorded Song for "When We Fly."
In 2016, Ty released his latest album, "House of Fire." The album is a collec- tion of 12 songs that shows a deeper, greater strength from a man who has been there and back and lived to tell about it.
The album received critical accolades from the Nashville music community as well as USA Today, Rolling Stone Country and Huffington Post.
Ty, a philanthropist at heart, has do- nated his time to Make a Wish, St Jude, Feed the Children and GLAAD, to name
a few. One of his most recent acts of giving back was lending his vocals on the tribute track "Hands." The single is a musical tribute to the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida.
Doug Schultz, the Canyon Lake resident and producer of Concerts at the Lodge, first met Ty Herndon in the late 90s when Ty performed at 4th & B, a 2,000 capacity concert hall in the Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Di- ego that Doug managed.
"Ty was an up and coming artist at the time who had a few hits plus a number one single, "What Mattered Most," and the audience loved him." said Doug. "He told me he was born in Meridian, Mississippi, but was raised just across the state line in his parents hometown of Butler, Alabama."
Doug, who is currently the concert manager for KSON Country 97.3 FM San Diego said, "For years we played Ty Herndon on air and was one of the most requested artists."
The Ty Herndon concert will be an up front and personal acoustic perfor- mance. "It means the show will use instruments to produce sound through acoustic means as opposed to electric guitars or other instruments, and it gives the Canyon Lake audience that VIP pri- vate party feel," said Doug.
Local country music singer-songwrit- er Lance Allen will open the concert. His recordings include "Hero," "Our Father," Narrow Road" an "He's There." Lance will take the stage in the Holiday Bay Room at 7:30 p.m.
Rick Derringer is scheduled to perform on Saturdy, Nov. 4.
