upcoming summer activities
Movie Night in the Park
Everyone is invited to bring their own chair or blanket to sit on the slope and enjoy a free movie in the park on July 21 Aug. 11 and Aug 25. This is a free event sponsored by the POA for members and their guests. Movies start at dusk.
Willy Wonka Jr.
Canyon Lake Community Theatre’s production, Willy Wonka Jr., will be performed by the talented kids from Canyon Lake and surrounding commu- nities. The production will be held July 28 through July 30 in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. Tickets are on sale at the POA office. Hot August Night
The Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild is hosting a free concert, featuring a “Fleetwood Mac” tribute band, on Sat- urday, Aug. 5, at Holiday Harbor Park. “Hot August Night” will begin on the upper level of the park at 4 p.m. with a pre-concert party hosted by The Junior Woman’s Club and the Family Matters Club. These activities will expand the evening concert into a six-hour end-of- summer celebration.
Paddle & Pedal Regatta
The 6th annual Paddle & Pedal Re- gatta, hosted by the Fitness and Triathlon Club, will cruise the East Bay on Aug. 12 at 10 a.m. at Indian Beach. Every- one with a paddle board, kayak, canoe, pedal boat or non powered paddle vessel
is welcome. This is a non-competitive group cruise. After the cruise, partici- pants are invited to stay for a barbecue lunch for a $5 per person donation.
Western Barbecue
The Family Matters Club will host a Western Barbecue on Aug. 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Indian Beach. This event will feature a kid’s zone with pony rides, jumpers, petting zoo, mechanical bull, watermelon eating contest, country mu- sic, square dance demonstration and les- sons, face painting and craft and game booths. Pat’s Famous BBQ will offer full and small lunch plates.
Mermaid Festival
The Woman’s Club invites all mer- maids, mermen, pirates and people who love the sea to its 3rd annual Mermaid Festival on Aug. 26 at Indian Beach. The day will include vendors, kid’s zone, mermaid and pirate-themed activities and a cardboard boat race.
Flick-n-Float
Grab a float and enjoy a movie on the big screen at Flick-n-Float Movie Night at the pool on Sept. 2. Movie start at dusk. A valid POA card is required to enter the pool area.
Maui Monday
Break out your favorite Hawaiian shirt or hula skirt and celebrate the end of summer Hawaiian style at Maui Mon- day on Sept. 4 from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Sunset Beach. This event will feature live entertainment provided by DJ Mike Shroyer, kid’s zone, fun contests and a

Hawaiian themed menu. Once the sun goes down, everyone will be invited to gather on the beach to watch hula danc- ers, Samoan drummers and fire dancers perform for a true Hawaiian experience.
Ty Herndon Concert
Country music artist Ty Herndon will be performing in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge on Sept. 9. VIP tickets are $50; general admission $25. The doors open at 6:30 p.m.; show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the POA of- fice and online at canyonlakepoa.com.
Learn to Ride Days
The Wakeboard Club will host Learn to Ride Days on Sept. 9 and Oct. 14. at the north ski area. All ages are invited to learn how to wakeboard or to improve
their skills. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The cost is $15 per rider. For more in- formation, visit canyonlakewake.com.
Kids Fishing Derby
The 31st annual Kids Fishing Derby, hosted by the Canyon Lake Bassmas- ters for Canyon Lake residents and their guests, ages 5 to 15, will be held Sept 16. Fishing guidelines can be found with the registration forms, which will be avail- able at the POA closer to the event. The registration form will also be printed in The Friday Flyer.
Pancake Breakfast
The Lions Club is hosting a commu- nity-wide Pancake Breakfast on Sept. 10 at 7:30 a.m. at Holiday Harbor Park.
The 3rd annual Mermaid Festival, sponsored by the Woman's Club, is scheduled for Aug. 26 at Indian Beach.
Break out your favorite Hawaiian shirt for the end of summer Maui Monday celebration. This community event, sponsored by the POA, will take place on Sept. 4 from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Sunset Beach.
