New wave band Berlin, featuring Terri Nunn, will perform at the lodge on Saturday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; show starts at 7:30. The concert is part of the POA’s 2017 Concerts at the Lodge lineup. Residents interested in purchasing tickets are out of luck – the concert is sold out.
Berlin gained mainstream- commercial success in the early 80s with singles “The Metro” and “No More Words.” In the mid 80s, Berlin topped the charts with their single “You Take My Breath Away” from the 1986 film Top Gun. The song was a huge international hit and earned an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.
Concert Promoter Doug Schultz says the show will be a mix of Berlin’s 80s classics peppered with tracks from their latest release.
Opening for Berlin is Canyon Laker Aprile DeAnne. Aprile is a local entertainer who’s performed on numerous occasions at the Canyon Lake Lodge and Country Club and other local establishments.
Aprile said, “Opening for one of my favorite bands from my teenage years is an honor.”
Aprile’s set list will include memorable songs from the 80s. “They’re popular songs from the 80s that I hope people will enjoy singing along to,” said the singer.
Starting at 2 p.m., the Lighthouse Restaurant will offer a special concert menu. Happy Hour specials will not be offered. Reservations are highly recommended.

Leon Russell was scheduled to appear at the lodge on Nov. 4, 2017. Unfortunately, Leon passed away on Nov. 13, 2016. His replacement is rock and blues legend and
Grammy Award winner Rick Derringer. Rick has played with John and Edgar Winter, Steely Dan and The McCoys. “Rock & Roll Hoochie Koo,” “Hang on Sloopy” and “Rikki Don’t Lose that Number” are some of the mega hits Rick produced. VIP tickets are $55; General Admission tickets are $30.
The “Concerts at the Lodge” concerts are sponsored by the POA and produced
by Doug Schultz. Doug, concert manager for the Entercom San Diego radio stations, is a project manager, talent buyer and contract negotiator of over 2,000 concerts and special events. He has over 30 years experience in the concert business and has worked with over 5,000 national acts.

FIESTA DAY PLANNERS & VOLUNTEERS WE THANK YOU!
It seems every year Fiesta Day gets bigger and better, and this year was no exception! The Association’s Fiesta Day Committee and Activities department planned many activities and events based around this year’s theme “Stars, Stripes & Fiesta” a patriotic tribute honoring all of our fallen soldiers along with all those who have served our great nation.
The Association would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s event another year for the books! First off the Fiesta Day Committee Members which areJoannaSpiller,LaRueMcNamara,Roanne Grasso, Joe Grasso, Lyne Hall, Mike Shroyer and committee volunteer Jude Donahue. Staff liaisons to this committee are Carrie Pratt, Val Grillo and Samantha Bell. This group began planning the event in January and their creative ideas and support made this event possible.
We'd like to thank our Grand Marshals this year, Al Van Beenen and Nancy Carroll. Both of these individuals have been integral parts of this community and volunteered countless hours serving community groups and helping residents.
Additionally, there were many great clubs that participated and we thank all of them for their support. These clubs were seen all throughout the day, from those who participated in the parade to those who worked tirelessly to provide food and drinks.
We are also grateful to the many departments that came together to help execute this event. This included the Operations department which as always exceeded expectations with coordinating the setup and break down of the event. Other sta  seen throughout the day came from the Corporate, Human Resources, Planning & Compliance, Member Services and Pool departments. We also thank the Lighthouse Restaurant sta  for providing drink specials and the popular margarita special all day.
Likewise, a special thank you to the volunteers that helped out this year. Volunteers included Liz Watts, Bernadette Staples, Cynthia Innocenti, Ken Trowbridge, and Matt Raboin.
Additionally, we thank Community Patrol, Marine Patrol, RSO and City Special Enforcement for all their support. With the many thousands of people that attended and participated in this event, we appreciated all the assistance with guiding tra c, crowds, and monitoring the event. Lastly, a big thank you to everyone who came out to support this great event.
