JUNE 16, 2017 THE FRIDAY FLYER A-5 Special programs begin next week at library
It is Summer Reading Time at the Canyon Lake Library and things are heating up. Beginning Monday, the Canyon Lake Library has some special programs for children and adults.
On Monday at 2 p.m. the Jewelry Design Program will meet. This is an introductory workshop for a program which will continue throughout the summer. Children 18 and younger will select from available materials, draw their idea then receive assistance on making it happen.
The children keep their creations, the library keeps a photo of their creation. Tools will be available in the library for library use only and materials will be available for additional creations.
Wednesday, June 21, is the first open day of summer for the library and to help celebrate Petals the Clown will be face painting from 12 to 2 p.m. Treats will be available for everyone visiting for the First Day of Summer Celebration thanks to a donation of candy from the City of Canyon Lake and removable tattoos provided by the Friends of the Canyon Lake Library.
The library has a new adult program for all who have or are in the process of inventing something. Patent Agent Ben Hudson will be at the library on Saturday, June 24, at 12 p.m. to explain the patent process and what it takes to patent a great idea.
Ben, an experienced patent agent, will be explaining what can be patented, how the process works, expected timelines and how to protect against like item development.
A Steampunk is a multi-media family entertainment program is will be held on Monday, June 26, at 3 p.m. This program uses images from the days of

The Library’s Story Time for Toddlers meets on Monday at 11 a.m.
The Roots to Grow tutoring program for children grades K through 8 is in session every Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. Roots to Grow is led by high school honor students who help elementary and middle grade students with math, science, English and history. Students
should bring the work they are having problems with to gain help in the area most needed. Volunteer positions are open for additional students interested in assisting younger students.
