A-8 THE FRIDAY FLYER OCTOBER 7, 2016 October is a busy month for community events
Residents will want to mark their cal- endars for these upcoming activities.
Pet Parade
The Canyon Lake Farmers Market will hold its annual Pet Parade this Sun- day, October 9, at 12 noon in the Towne Center. The categories in the pet costume contest are Cutest, Spookiest, Funniest, Most Original and Pet/Owner Look- Alike. Spokesperson Cyndi Hermanns says, “Dress your pet up and come on out to the Farmers Market and enjoy all the fun. Plenty of prizes and ribbons will be awarded.” The Canyon Lake Royal Court will be judging the contest again this year.
Rocktoberfest
The Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club (JWC) invites residents and their guests (21 years old and older) to “Rock- toberfest 2016” on October 15, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Holiday Harbor.
The event will feature tasting booths to highlight local craft breweries, along with sales of whiskey, wine, margaritas, cigars and food, and other business ven- dors. There also will be raffle opportuni- ties and live music.
This is a free event. Stamp cards for tastings at participating microbreweries and moonshine booths are $20. Hangar 24 has been added to the growing list of microbreweries that will be at the event.
Spokesperson Alissa Rackstraw says the club is seeking vendors, raffle items and financial contributions. The pro- ceeds of this fundraising event will help to support the community beautification and philanthropy projects that JWC has
planned for the year. For more informa- tion, contact Alissa at 951-265-4325. For vendor information, contact Julie Aguirre at 951-265-9722.
Oktoberfest
The 6th annual Oktoberfest will be held in the Towne Center on Saturday, October 15, from 5 to 9 p.m. This popu- lar event annually draws a crowd of sev- eral hundred and offers traditional food, beer and wine, along with music by the American Bavarian Brass Band, a kids zone, contests and vendors.
For non-food vendor or sponsor in- formation, contact Chamber Direc- tor Alison Burrafato at 951-244-6124, e-mail canyonlakechamber@outlook. com or visit Pack Wrap and Post in the Towne Center.
