DALE WELTY PAUL QUEEN
Dale Welty, Paul Queen elected to CLPOA Board
Quorum was met Thursday, May 12, with the Annual Meeting of the Mem- bers and Election of the Directors con- cluding before 1 p.m. A total of 1,541 ballots and proxies were submitted. Dale Welty received the most votes with 1,068; Paul Queen was next with 912. Chris Williams received 399 votes, Paul Chenette 361 and Matt Poland 280.
The new officers are President Bruce Yarbrough, Vice-President Eric Spitzer, Treasurer Dale Welty, Secretary Ted Horton and Director Paul Queen. (Di- rector Queen announced this week that he has opened a new Facebook group called “Paul Queen your POA Director,” where he welcomes input from mem- bers.)
Results for the ballot measurers were as follows:
The CR&R amendment to remove the 5-foot height limit on fences needed ap- proval by two-thirds of eligible voters, or 3,066 votes. It received 838 yes votes and 519 no votes. It did not pass.
A total of 772 yes votes were needed to pass the following ballot measures:
The measure to remove the use of prox- ies passed with a vote of 813 yes, 541 no.
The measure to remove cumulative voting did not pass, with a vote of 764 yes, 597 no. (Even though yes votes were in the majority, they did not reach the threshold of 772 votes required to pass.)
Outrigger Park Playground
Construction has begun on the new
ship-themed playground equipment at Outrigger Park. Construction is an- ticipated to take two to three weeks to complete. During construction, residents are asked to avoid the play- ground area. There are signs posted at the park to notify residents of the work being done.
The new playground equipment in- cludes a ship-themed playset with a wind sail that acts as a shade cover for part of the equipment and playground surface. Adjacent to the play equipment will be a matching swing set. In addition to the play equipment, the sand will be removed from the entire playground area and will be replaced with certified “Fi- bar” (engineered wood fibers that knit together to form a surface soft enough to cushion falls, yet firm enough for wheel- chairs). The installation of modernized play equipment and ground cover will allow this playground to be more acces- sible and family friendly.
The playground renovation was intro- duced and approved by the Board of Di- rectors at the July 7, 2015 Regular Ses- sion Board Meeting. This park is one of several that have been updated as part of the Association’s Beautification Initia- tive, introduced in 2013.
Residents are invited to join the Asso- ciation’s Board of Directors and staff at the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the park, 23950 Outrigger Dr., on Thursday, June 9, at 11 a.m.
