THE FRIDAY FLYER A-3
Dancers led kids in the limbo prior
to their show on Sunset Beach
at last year's Maui Monday.
Maui Monday will offer ‘a bit of paradise’
No need to travel to the islands or even outside the gates on Labor Day, since “a little bit of paradise” will be waiting right at Sunset Beach on Maui Monday, September 7, from 5 to 8 p.m.
There will be food and fun for the whole family inside and outside the Lodge, with the Lighthouse Restaurant providing an island-accented menu, and DJ Mike Shroyer playing beach tunes, along with his famous dance, hula hoop and limbo contests. When they aren’t
burning off energy with the contests, youngsters can play in the Kid Zone.
Once the sun goes down, everyone will be invited to gather on the beach to watch hula dancers, Samoan drummers, fire dancers and more, provided by the professional Polynesian Entertainment Group.
In past years, crowds have loved this magical time of the day when the stars come out and the spotlight is on the sand stage of Sunset Beach. When invited,
children and the braver adults have joined in the dancing.
So whether it’s to say aloha (good- bye) to summer, or aloha (hello) to fall, residents won’t want to miss this special event sponsored by the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association.
Maui Monday Menu
• Maui Monday Combo, $6 (includes pulled pork sandwich, potato mac salad or rice, beans and a soft drink)
• Sweet and Sour Pulled Pork Sand-
wich, $4
• Hawaiian Slaw, $1
• Potato Mac Salad, $1
• Pineapple Coconut Rice, $1
• Luau Baked Beans, $1
• Tropical Fruit Salad, $1
The main lounge bar, as well as the
portable bar will be open. Guests are in- vited to use their Taco Tuesday cups for $3.75 refills of margaritas or $1 refills of fountain drinks. The snack bar in the Sunset Beach Room also will be open.
What’s next now that Taco Tuesday has ended?
As the saying goes, “All good things must come to an end.” And so it goes with Canyon Lake’s weekly summer party – Taco Tuesday. At the final Taco Tuesday of summer, the Family Matters Club held a sand castle-building contest and Good Time Entertainment offered its always popular kids’ dance contests. ABC Bounce (kids zone and snack bar) gave the winners free cotton candy.
The topic of this week’s The Friday Flyer survey question was: “What com- munity events to you enjoy the most?” Attendees also were asked if they planned to attend next week’s final sum- mer party, Maui Monday. See Page A-8 for a few of their answers.

The final Flick-n-Float Movie Night is scheduled for Saturday, September 12 at the Lodge pool. It will begin at dusk (which is earlier now that the days are shorter) and will feature an animated comedy-drama adventure that follows an overly cautious parent on his journey to find his son. The movie is rated PG. Flick- n-Float Movie Nights are free for mem- bers of the Association. Parents need to accompany their children (unless child is over the age of 14 and has a POA card).
