‘Steel Magnolias’ coming to the Lodge in February
Canyon Lake Community Theatre is preparing to present the timeless comedy/ drama, “Steel Magnolias,” in February, directed by Coco Morrison and produced by Ilene Moore.
Revolving around Truvy’s Beauty Parlor in a small parish in Louisiana, “Steel Magnolias” is the story of a close-knit circle of friends whose lives come together at the salon and take viewers on a delightful, hilarious, yet bittersweet journey via curlers, hairdryers, gossip and nails.
Recreating the characters the movie version made famous – starring Dolly Par- ton, Julia Roberts, Shirley MacLaine and Sally Field – is a cast of Canyon Lakers and other local actors.
MaryAnne Stevens will play the role of Truvy, the salon owner; Ceeja Barr is the frail and soon-to-be-wed Shelby; Suzanne Bolton will play Shelby’s mother M’Lynn; Ann Walker is the feisty, sour-tempered Ouiser; Lindsey Sethman is the confused and complicated Annelle; and Nancy Walton is the recently widowed, rich Clairee, Ouiser’s best friend.
Ilene says, “These strong and dynamic women make us laugh and cry as the reali- ties of their lives unfold in this sparkling classic. Filled with humor and heartbreak, you won’t want to miss this show, for sure!”
Show dates are Friday and Saturday, February 20 and 21, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, February 22, at 3 p.m., in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge. Watch The Friday Flyer for the Sunday brunch/show details.

Gary Bonner Singers to perform in March
The Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild is pleased to announce that the Gary Bonner Singers will return to Canyon Lake on Sunday, March 15, at 2:30 p.m. at the Lodge. Their presentation, The Best of Broadway & Movies, will included music from
“The Sound of Music,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Oklahoma” and many more, concluding with a spectacular “Les Miserables” finale.
Tickets will go on sale at the CLPOA office on February 14 at $20 per person (check only). Tickets are now available online from brownpa- pertickets.com or by calling 1-800- 838-3006. There are no fees for online credit card or telephone purchase.

Farmers Market Wheels Parade is Sunday
It's time to decorate those bikes and strollers! The Farmers Market, along with New Hope Church, will feature the 2nd annual Wheels Parade on Sun- day, February 8, at noon. Lineup begins at 11:30 a.m.
The theme will be valentines and everyone is invited to bring their deco- rated bikes, scooters, strollers, wagons and wheelchairs. The Royal Court will judge entries, and there will be prizes and ribbons for everyone who partici- pates.
The Farmers Market operates every Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the upper section of the Towne Center parking lot. It features fresh produce from local farmers and fresh flowers from area growers as well as handcrafted items, vendor merchandise and freshly prepared food. It’s a good place to pick up fresh food for meals and gifts from local vendors.
