The lodge will offer brunch on Easter Sunday. Brunch runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $24.95 for adults and $12.95 for children ages five to 12. Children four and younger are free with one paid adult. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 951-244-6841, ext. 771.
In an effort to eliminate confusion as to how community association homeowners receive communication from their associations, the California Legislature has placed on the homeowner the burden of updating their addresses of record for association notification.
Homeowners must now provide their association with their current information on an annual basis. This information includes homeowner contact information, property address, mailing list, and the property status whether the separate interest is owner-occupied, rented out, if the lot is developed but vacant, or if the lot is underdeveloped land and legal representative information if any.
The new law also places additional obligations on associations. Civil Code Section 4041 obligates associations to solicit these address notifications from owner annually. Homeowners can expect a solicitation letter from the POA in March. Homeowners may also update their information on the POA website, canyonlakepoa.com, under “Forms.”
While SB 918 imposes yet another layer of micromanagement on community association administration, in the end, the address reporting requirements in this new law will lead to more accurate owner databases and the greater likelihood that owners will receive important community association communication.
The POA is no longer charging for RFID transponders, which allows residents quicker access to the community at each of the three gates. Members who wish to receive a free RFID sticker must bring their vehicle to the POA office along with a current vehicle registration (must be registered to a community member) and photo identification, such as a POA card or driver’s license. A staff member will install the transponder on the vehicle.
Members who do not bring their vehicle to the POA office cannot be issued a transponder. The transponders do not have to be replaced on an annual basis. However, members must provide annual registration to reactivate the transponder.
Member Services Hours
Member Services is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Offices are closed on Sundays.
Country Club Buffet
The country club offers a breakfast buffet and Bloody Mary Bar every Sunday. The buffet is $12.50 and served between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The Bloody Mary Bar offers endless Bloody Marys for $13.50 between the hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Fiesta Day Booths
The POA invites businesses, clubs and groups to reserve a booth for Fiesta Day. Food booths are available to POA sanctioned clubs only. For more information, visit the new Fiesta Day website at canyonlakefiestaday.org/vendors.
The 2018/2019 Annual Budget will be available on the POA’s website in late March. Printed copies will also be available for distribution at the POA.
Park and Beach hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 1 through Apr. 30 and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 1 through Sept. 30.
The lodge offers $5 appetizer and drink specials Monday through Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The country club offers drink specials and $3, $5 and $9 appetizers Monday through Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.
The POA offers gift cards that can be used at the country club, golf course, Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar and for POA merchandise such as license plate frames. The gift cards can not be used for paying citations, registration or POA dues.
The pickleball courts are located at East Pork Park and are open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The tennis courts are located at the lodge and are open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Dog Friendly Parks
East Port Dog Park, Harrelson Park, Emerald Park and Lions Park are the only parks that allow dogs. All dogs must remain on a leash. Dogs may be leash-less inside the fenced area at East Port Dog Park.
The following parks and beaches have playgrounds: Diamond Point Park, Emerald Park, Holiday Harbor Park, Indian Beach Park, Outrigger Park, Rob Caveney Park, Steelhead Park and Sunset Beach.
Free Dancercise Class
Free Dancercise classes are available to members on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. in the Pool View Room at the lodge. This low-impact exercise class involves stretching exercises starting with the upper body, then floor exercise and line dancing. All ages are welcome.
POA Text Alerts
Residents can sign up to receive text alerts from the POA by texting ALLPOA 25827.
Golf Cart Registration
All golf carts must be registered with the POA. The registration fee is $45; citation fee for not registering a golf cart is $100.
The speed trailer is now programmed to capture the license plates of vehicles speeding within the community. Speeders will be issued citations by mail. The RU2 radar mobile speed trailer will be used to help bring attention to speed control throughout the community and assist Community Patrol with issuing tickets for speeders in multiple locations.
Any person who receives additional speeding citations within thirty-six months of a previous offense will be subject to a progressive fine. The progressive fine will be compounded for each additional offense.
All Community Patrol vehicles are now equipped with dash-mounted radars. They are calibrated before and after shifts. Residents who are pulled over may review the reading on the dash-mounted system if requested. The Board of Directors approved the purchase of the radar units for four Community Patrol vehicles at a cost of $6391.85.
The speed limit on all main streets (Canyon Lake Dr. North and South, Continental Dr., Longhorn Dr., and Vacation Dr.) is 35 MPH; 25 MPH on all other streets.
Mailbox Replacement Project
The board approved $390,182.03 plus a 2.5 percent contingency from the Repair and Replacement funds to replace the mailboxes throughout the whole community. The three-phase project will take approximately 18 months to complete. Operations will remove and dispose of the mailboxes to save the POA approximately $45,000. Lighting will not be added at this time. The Mailbox Replacement Project will affect 96 physical locations on various streets throughout the community. The contractor will work with the post office to get the new mailbox keys to residents.
Pump Track Project
The POA announced that the Pump Track Project is moving forward. The POA found an insurance company that doesn’t require a fence around the pump track or for it to be manned. The board directed the FRC to start moving forward again on the project.
New solar lighting has been installed at East Port Park at the launch ramp, pickleball courts parking, motorcycle parking, dog park and at the new stairs leading from the park to the pickleball courts,
Equestrian Center Upgrades
The newly improved Western/Dressage Arena at the equestrian center is back open for use. Athletex, Hydro Keep and new arena sand have all just recently been installed as new footing to help increase riding enjoyment.
The Canyon Lake Property Owners Association has a five-member Board of Directors who are collectively responsible for the management and operation of the Association’s business affairs. Regular Session Board Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. July and August Regular Session Board Meetings were moved to the first Wednesday of the month. Agendas are posted on the POA website four days in advance of the meeting. Meetings are broadcast live; channel 39 for Verizon Cable subscribers, channel 29 for Spectrum Cable subscribers. Minutes of each meeting are posted within 30 days of each Regular Session Board Meeting and presented to the Board of Directors for approval at the next Regular Session Meeting.
Guest Call-in App
The dwellingLIVE app for iOS and Android users allows members to easily manage guest lists and account information from their mobile device. To get this app, search dwellingLIVE in the app store from their phone. Members will need to know their login email and password to sign up.
Pre-printed Guest Passes
Members can request pre-printed guest passes for parties of ten or more people. For pre-printed guest passes, submit first and last names of guests, event date and member’s name, tract/lot and phone number to the POA office at least one week in advance.
The POA has a security email address for residents who wish to provide feedback on Community Patrol services. The POA wants to hear from residents, whether it’s a compliment, complaint or a concern about security. The email address, firstname.lastname@example.org, is a non-emergency, no-reply email address.
Residents are reminded that Community Patrol is to assist residents with non-emergency incidents, such as POA Rules and Regulations violations. For matters pertaining to the law and duties regularly carried out by peace officers, call the Riverside Sheriff’s Office (RSO) non-emergency number at 951-776-1099. For emergencies, call 911.
Community Patrol can assist with the following non-emergency incidents:
- Loud noise complaints
- Barking dogs or loose dogs
- Speeding and traffic sign violations
- Vehicle accidents
- Motorcycle riding in community
- Golf carts violating Rules and Regulations
- Vandalism to POA property
- Illegal fishing

Happy Camp Project
The Happy Camp Construction Project began the week of Jan. 15. The campground is closed during construction. The gas dock will remain open. The project is expected to be completed by Memorial Day.
Boater Safety Test
A safety inspection must be obtained from Marine Patrol every other year. A safety inspection is required for all vessels that are required to be registered with the State. Prior to obtaining a safety inspection, members must pass a boater’s safety exam. The safety exam can be found online on the POA website at canyonlakepoa.com.
Lost and Found
The POA has a Lost and Found for items found in the parks and other locations within the community. To inquire about lost items, call 951-244-6841, ext. 510. Be sure to provide details on the item and leave your name and phone number so staff can get back to you after checking the Lost and Found inventory.
Commercial vehicles are required to access the community through the east and north gates only. No commercial vehicles will be allowed access through the main gate.
Activities is working with Operations on the Bench Program for parks and beaches. Staff visited a few parks with Operations and is now working on a notebook for bench selection.
All persons under the age of 1) operating a bicycle, a non-motorized scooter, or a skateboard, in-line or roller skates, or ride upon a bicycle, a non-motorized scooter, or a skateboard as a passenger, upon Canyon Lake Property Association roadways are required to wear a properly fitted and fastened bicycle helmet. This requirement also applies to a person who rides upon a bicycle while in a restraining seat that is attached to the bicycle or in a trailer towed by the bicycle.

Parking Lot Project
The POA Board of Directors announced at November’s Regular Session Board Meeting that plans are in the works to re-do approximately 20 parking lots.
- Monday through Thursday: 5 to 9 p.m.
- Friday: 5 to 10 p.m.
- Saturday: 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sunday Dinner: 3 to 8 p.m.

The POA offers traffic school as another method to remove a citation from a member’s account. A member is eligible to attend traffic school for a moving violation once every 36 months, as long as the prime member is in good standing with the POA. Traffic school is held on the last Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $25. Upon completion, will be waived from the prime member’s account. Registration is required. - Pay over the phone with a credit or debit card by calling the Member Services Department at 951-244-6841 ext. 310. Have your tract-lot number and citation number (located at the top right-hand corner of the citation) ready.
Golf Pro Shop
The Golf Pro Shop at the country club features the latest in golf clubs from Ping, Mizuno, Callaway and Titleist. It also stocks Nike, EP Pro, Antigua and Foot Joy golf apparel. Canyon Lake Property Owner’s Association members receive a 20% discount on select apparel.

The following parks and beaches have roped off swimming areas: Holiday Harbor Park, Roadrunner Park, Indian Beach, Moonstone Beach, Sunset Beach and Sierra Park.
All California state fishing regulations apply when fishing in Canyon Lake. Everyone over the age of 16 must have a California state fishing license. Licenses and permits must be visible at all times; members are required to have their POA ID card in their possession. Guest fishing must either be in the presence of a resident with a POA card or purchase a Guest Fishing Permit. Permits can be purchased at the POA office at a cost of $5 per day or $20 for ten days. A complete list of fishing rules and violation fines can be found on the POA website at canyonlakepoa.com.
Residents are reminded to double-check their vehicle doors and windows each evening and be sure alarm systems are activated. Records show most thefts from vehicles in Canyon Lake occur because doors were left unlocked or windows left open. Residents should not leave items of value in front yards or driveways. Open cars and valuables left outside can lead to “crimes of opportunity” that can be easily prevented. If a crime is in progress, call 9-1-1 before calling Community Patrol at 951-244-6841, ext. 410.
Take advantage of the many programs and classes offered by the Association. The first class is free. Additional classes can be purchased at the POA office or at the pool office. - Yoga by the Lake
Dani Martin, a certified yoga instructor and 17-year resident of Canyon Lake, invites residents to connect body and mind with Yoga by the Lake. Classes are held Mondays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m. on the sand at Sunset Beach. Classes are $35 for five classes; $60 for 10 classes. - Morning Yoga
Morning Yoga offers a gentle approach to yoga. Each class focuses on enhancing breathing and inner calm, improving balance, increasing flexibility, mobility and strengthen muscles. Instructor, Gina Kraut, is a licensed massage therapist, reflexologist and Reiki Master. Classes are held on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in the Sunset Beach Room at the lodge. - Funk Fitness
Funk Fitness is a fun and funky way to workout. This class is a dance workout program that blends a combination of non-complex dance moves to popular funk music from the 70s and 80s. The class is taught by Koolboy, one of the original West Coast Poplockers who has worked with many popular West Coast rappers.
