Adult Book Club coming to CL Library Jan. 29

The Canyon Lake Library will hold its first meeting of the new Adult Book Club on Monday, Jan. 29, at 4 p.m. and last one hour. Margaret Foley, the newest member of the Canyon Lake Library will be leading the discussion group. The first meeting will be used to determine the nature of the group, character of the items for reading and rules of order to be used in future group meetings.

The opening title will be Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand by Helen Simonson. The book will be discussed along with topics such as preferred genre and selection options of future titles. The books are available through the Riverside County Library System catalog with the hold procedure. A few copies will be available at the library.

For more information about the Adult Book Club, contact the library at 951-244-9181.

Toddler Story Time will be back at the library on Monday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. The Monday holiday closures have prevented the program presentation for three to four weeks. Toddler Story Time is for ages three and younger and promotes socialization, vocabulary development and motor skills. The program includes a craft in the story theme. The materials are provided and the children may take the craft home to encourage additional discussion which provides use of their developing vocabulary skills.

The library’s Play Day program will be held on Jan. 29 from 10 a.m. to noon. The monthly program allows children, preschool and younger to play and enjoy exercise, social experience, a craft and a treat.

The January program will have an extra feature. Children will have a choice between continued play, attending story time, or participating in a musical movement activity.

Cheryl Kessler of Movin n’ Music will be at Play Day with an activity from 11:15 to 11:45. She provides music, sing-alongs and dance programs for all ages through her many professional endeavors. Typhanie from Mentoring Tiny Humans will provide the craft and as a Momco hostess prizes for the adult attendees.
