Meet the candidates Saturday, next two Mondays

Prime members have begun receiving their ballots for the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association Annual Meeting and Election scheduled for May 14. Three of the five Board of Director seats are up for election, with the two-year terms of Eric Spitzer, Bruce Yarbrough and Dawn Haggerty coming to an end in May.
Nine candidates are running for these seats, so residents are being given an opportunity to learn more about them via responses to questions in The Friday Flyer and at upcoming forums.

  • Tomorrow, April 11, at 9 a.m., a Meet the Candidates Forum is being sponsored by the Senior Work Group at the Senior Center. This forum usually has standing room only, so those who want to attend should arrive early.
  • This coming Monday, April 13, at 7 p.m., there will be a Speak With the Candidates Forum at the Lodge, sponsored by the following clubs: Bassmasters, Car Club, CLAMS, CLAPPS, Emergency Preparedness, Fine Arts Guild, Lions, Lioness, Men’s Golf, Women’s Golf, 9ers Golf, TWG, Roadrunners, Street Carts, Tennis Club and Travel Club.
The format is for attendees to approach the podium and ask their question directly to the candidate(s) they choose. The questions are not edited or screened; they are direct form the property owner to the candidate. The moderators, Joanna Spiller and Phil Coughlin, will set the ground rules and control the flow of the meeting, providing a strict time limit for questions and answers. This meeting will be taped and rebroadcast on the POA website.
  • On Monday, April 20, at 7 p.m., the Home Owners Club will host a Meet the Candidates Forum at which candidates are introduced by a family member or friend and are given a chance to talk about why they are running for the Board. They then answer questions written by audience members and submitted anonymously to the moderator. This meeting will be taped and rebroadcast on the POA website.
