Walk of Hope
On Sept. 24, Michelle’s Place is hosting its inaugural Walk of Hope at Vail Headquarters in Temecula. This event includes live music, food and awards. Registration for breast cancer survivors is $15. Registration for ages 13 and older is $30; $40 the day of the event. Child reg- istration for ages four to 12 is $15. Children ages three and under are free. Online registration is available at michellesplace.org. Registration includes a T-shirt, walk medal and post race entertainment. Participants who turn in registrations after Sept. 11 will not be guar- anteed a walk T-shirt.
Awards will be given in the 5K for Best Team T- shirts, Best Stroller Decorations and Best Dog Cos- tume. Awards will also be given for the highest fund- raising team or individual.
The funds raised through the Walk of Hope fund- raiser go directly to Michelle’s Place to help provided the necessary support services to women and families dealing with breast cancer and to individuals with any cancer in need of support.
Paws on the Promenade
The spooktacular Paws on the Promenade dog walk will take place on Oct. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Prome- nade Temecula. This event features pet adoptions, treat bags for participants, vendor booths and pet parade and costume contest. Sponsorship opportunities are avail- able. New costume contest categories this year include Spookiest, Most Original, Darling Divas, Dashing Dudes, Owner and Pet Duo (12 and under and 12 and over). Lioness Bingo
Lioness Bingo is held at the Canyon Lake Senior Center on the first and third Sunday of every month from 1 to 4 p.m. Due to State Law, Bingo is limited to those over the age of 18. National Night Out
Perris and Menifee are hosting a National Night Out tomorrow evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at Skyline Park, 415 Dale St., Perris. This free community event will feature Sheriff’s displays, CAL-FIRE and K9 demos, games, food and live music.
Celebration of Life Tournament
Michelle’s Place, a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and nearby cities, is hosting its 16th annual Celebration of Life Golf Tournament on Friday, Aug. 26, at Temecula Creek Inn, 44501 Rain- bow Canyon Rd., Temecula. The tournament is one of two primary fundraisers for Michelle’s Place since 2001.
The entry fee is $135 per person and includes break- fast and lunch. The tournament will start with a putting contest before teeing off with a shotgun start. There will be mini competitions at various holes. Lunch, awards and silent auction will follow the tournament. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. AFV Fundraisers
Eat at Chipotle at 30024 Haun Rd., Menifee, on Wednesday, Aug. 30, between 4 and 8 p.m. and half of the proceeds will be donated to Animal Friends of the Valleys (AFV). Be sure to tell the cashier you’re sup- porting the AFV fundraiser.
AFV will host its 13 annual Wines for Canines and Kitties on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 5 to 9 p.m. at South Coast Winery, 34843 Rancho California Rd., Temecu- la. This event will feature The Voice contestant Anata- lia Villaranda, a Fashion Show featuring shelter dogs, sit down dinner, live auction and live music. National POA Re ections
Temescal Canyon High School Reflection entries are due to the school office by October 13. Founded in 1969, Reflections engages nearly 300,000 students and their families in arts education activities each year by encouraging students to explore the arts for fun and recognition.
The theme for this year is “Within Reach.” Pre-K through grade 12 students are encouraged to submit original works of art in one or more of the following categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Photography, Visual Arts, Musical Compo- sition.
Students with disabilities may receive special ac- commodations by entering the special Artist Division, all abilities are encouraged to participate.
Winners move up to the district and possibly state judging. Students can win a medal, savings bond and an all-expense paid trip to State PTA convention.
Celebrate Recovery
Celebrate Recovery is a program that teaches and gives one tools on how to address their hurts, habits, and hang-ups so that they can move forward and find their purpose and a life filled with joy. Participants dis- cover that they are not alone in what they are going through and find people to walk alongside them. Cel- ebrate Recovery meets on Sundays at 6 p.m. in Build- ing C at Canyon Lake Community Church.
Women’s Circles
Women’s Circles are small groups of women who meet once a month in each other’s homes or in Build- ing C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They pray and support missionaries, and pray for and encourage one another. Being a member of a Women’s Circle pro- vides an opportunity for small group fellowship.
