MARCH 11, 2016 THE FRIDAY FLYER A-3 Lodge pool is scheduled to open tomorrow
With cooler temperatures in the fore- cast this weekend, it’s not likely fami- lies will be clamoring to go to the pool. But for those warm days to come, here is some helpful information about pool hours and rules.
Located next to the Lodge, the Junior Olympic-size pool is for the enjoyment of members and their guests. Members must present their own valid POA card and be in good standing to use the pool, and they must accompany their guests at all times.
The pool varies from 3.5 feet to 8 feet deep with lap lanes at one end. A separate children’s pool is available for toddlers. The pool is ADA accessible and is kept at a constant temperature throughout the season. Showers, restrooms and vending machines are located at the pool, which is open March to November.
Starting tomorrow, the pool will be open for Lap Swim and Water Aerobics from 7 to 10 a.m., Monday through Sun- day. Open Swim will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Sunday. Hours will increase between May 23 and Sep- tember 2.
Pool passes are available at Members Services to members requesting them for adult non-members who are responsible for the resident minor children of Canyon Lake members. This would include nannies, bab- ysitters or any other individual responsible for the member’s minor children.
Pool Rules:
Here are a few of the pool rules. The complete list of rules can be found at www.canyonlakepoa.com.
• There is no life guard on duty. Weak, inexperienced or non-swimmers must be accompanied by a responsible person who is of sufficient maturity, size and swimming ability to assist the person in the event of distress or emergency.
• It is required that children 5 or younger be under the direct supervi- sion of a responsible person of age at

all times. Persons under 14 must be ac- companied by an adult 18 years of age or older. Persons 14 to 17 years of age may be unaccompanied by an adult; however, they are required to have their own valid POA card and are allowed to bring one guest to the pool.
• The following are not allowed in the pool or pool deck: animals (except service animals), smoking, alcoholic
beverages, glass containers, bicycles, skateboards or scooters; nor such ac- tivities as running, pushing, throwing, shoulder games and launching persons in the pool.
• Proper swimwear must be worn; cut-offs are not allowed. All babies, tod- dlers and incontinent adults must wear proper waterproof swim pants or briefs in the pool. The swim pants or briefs
cannot disintegrate in the pool and must have waterproof containment to ensure leak-proof protection.
• At the pool attendant’s discretion, swimmers may be asked to remove their flotation devices, balls, boards, etc. on crowded days.

Main Gate construction to begin Tuesday . . .
ttFROM PAGE A1
During construction, the goal is to
keep at least one entrance lane and one exit lane maintained at all times. Resi- dents are advised to use other gates when possible to avoid delays. Con- struction hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic lights on Railroad Canyon and Goetz Roads will be on timers during peak construc- tion hours.
Temporary pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. School buses and regular traffic will be able to go through the Main Gate but should expect delays. Commercial vehicles are required to use the East and North Gates.
At the Main Gate, keep in mind that a temporary guard booth will be set up with one guard who will be able to verify residents and guests and adminis-
ter guest passes via an iPad. Temporary guest passes will be issued to visitors, though they will not be printed passes.
To accommodate the heavier traffic, East Gate entry lanes will be temporar- ily modified: left lane for visitors, center lane for returning guests and decals, and right lane for commercial vehicles and decals.
Senior Center parking and access from Canyon Lake Drive South will be limited throughout the duration of this project. The back gate will be open for access from Burning Tree Dr. during Se- nior Center hours.
Entering the Towne Center will re- main the same; however, exiting the Towne Center will change during con- struction. Because backups are expected at the Main Gate, the City of Canyon Lake is requiring that traffic from the Towne Center be diverted to exit through
the eastern traffic light (except golf carts which are okay to go through).
Here are the Main Gate Project stages:
Stage 1
During this stage, the west lanes will be closed. One lane in and one lane out will be open on the east side. The fol- lowing work will be done:
• Demolition will occur to existing structures.
• Foundation will be laid for electri- cal/bathroom building.
• Electrical and irrigation lines will be installed.
Stage 2
• Major construction will take place during this stage. Entrance and exist lanes may change to accommodate the following work:
• Guard booths will be framed and constructed.
• Electrical/bathroom building will be
framed and constructed.
Stage 3
Major construction on the east side will take place during this stage. En- trance and exit lanes likely will be moved to the west side.
• More accessible pedestrian entrance will be created.
• Electrical and irrigation lines will be installed.
• Base pavement and final capping will be added around the center median.
Stage 4
This is the final stage of construction. Entrance and exit lanes may vary during this stage for the following work:
• Landscaping and planters will be installed.
• Final cap paving and loops will be completed.
• Final striping and signage will be placed.
