CL student wins Good Earth Scholarship

Canyon Lake high school student Jesse Rupe was awarded a $2,000 Claes Nobel Good Earth Sustainability Scholarship by the National Honor Society of High School Scholars.

The scholarship was established to recognize students who have a passion for conservation, sustainability, environmental policy, and preservation for the earth.

More than 100 students applied for the scholarship. Jesse was one of five students to be awarded the prestigious scholarship.

“Jesse has had a deep love for technology ever since he was a kid,” Diego Coya of Rosica Communications said. “His goal in life is to help the earth through technology that enables sustainability.”

One of Jesse’s inventions spotlighted in the scholarship application includes a rail that can automatically build, replace, upgrade, and recycle itself. This rail can be placed manually or by robotic arms that can do the job more efficiently. Every piece of the rail is replaceable, reusable, and recyclable.

The rail he invented can construct itself to form the most efficient routes in factories, warehouses, theme parks, and anywhere that moves materials. Each track can be automatically upgraded over time. With this rail, Jesse will create JHR Innovators, with the primary goal of helping the earth.

The National Honor Society of High School Scholars is a premier international honors and scholarship program co-founded by Claes Nobel and James Lewis. It offers a lifetime of benefits, pairing the highest performing students worldwide with high school and college scholarships, events, connections, internships, and career opportunities.

These opportunities begin in high school and carry on through college and careers.
