New fire department gets $30K for SCBAs

The soon-to-be-formed City of Canyon Lake Fire Department received a nice bump to its life-saving equipment list courtesy of Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. Almost $30,000 was awarded to the city to purchase four self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBAs).

“This equipment is so important to Canyon Lake as it will allow us to put four SCBAs on our new Type VI fire engine, so it can support both wildland and structure fire responses,” Jeff laTendresse, the city’s Interim Fire Chief, said. “During these unique and difficult times, we’re so thankful to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and our local Firehouse Subs restaurant in Menifee.”

The new equipment will be used to ensure greater life-saving capabilities for the city’s new firefighters, Jeff said.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is focused on helping first responders throughout the country. The $29,280 critical grant awarded to the Canyon Lake Fire Department is part of Firehouse Subs grants of nearly $2.5 million that were given to organizations in need of critical life-saving equipment.

During the most recent grant cycle, the Foundation awarded 120 grants to public safety organizations nationwide.
