L.A. Guns Concert rescheduled

The L.A. Guns concert scheduled for Sept. 18 has been rescheduled for Feb. 13 at the Canyon Lake Lodge. Tickets already purchased are good for the rescheduled date. Tickets for this show are still on sale.

L.A. Guns was formed in 1983 by guitar player Tracii Guns and lead singer Axl Rose, then an unknown singer. The team of Guns and former Girl singer Phil Lewis have sold 6 1/2 million records, including 1988’s L.A. Guns and 1990’s Cocked and Loaded, both of which were certified Gold.

Cocked and Loaded contained the hit single “Ballad of Jayne” that went to No. 33 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and No. 25 on the Mainstream Rock charts. From the mid-1990s to the mid 2000s, L.A. Guns continued to tour and release new music.

Following its successful performance at SiriusXM’s HairNation Festival in May 2016, L.A. Guns went into the studio to record the album, The Missing Peace, which was released in October 2017 and quickly became the highest-selling release of 2017 for Frontiers Records.

L.A. Guns has recorded its follow-up album to The Missing Peace, The Devil You Know. The album is the band’s 12th studio release, featuring the new singles Stay Away and Rage. The band is scheduled to release the album Renegade, with current single Crawl, this year.

The current lineup features founding member and lead guitar player Guns, who has reunited with Lewis on vocals, along with Shane Fitzgibbon on drums, Johnny Martin on bass and Ace Von Johnson on guitar.

The Baby’s concert rescheduled for last week was canceled and refunds were issued. It was to have originally taken place on June 23. Refunds took two to four weeks to process.

Ticket holders who have not received a refund to their account should email activities@canyonlakepoa.com.

Canyon Lake woman celebrates 80 years

Shirley Webster

Shirley Webster celebrated 80 wonderful years on Aug. 8 at a weekend celebration with her husband, Marvin Webster at the Mission Inn in Riverside.

A native of San Diego, she lived there her whole life with her three sisters and their families until moving to Canyon Lake four years ago. Because of the COVID-19 epidemic, and one granddaughter contracting it just a week before, a belated birthday celebration will be held later, Marvin said.

Hospice butterfly release celebration

Not even the restrictions of COVID-19 can interfere with the beauty and meaning of the Hospice of the Valleys’ memorial butterfly release. The local hospice organization is inviting all to participate in a special kind of butterfly release to celebrate the life of loved ones.

The event is complimentary, all ages are welcome and is funded by the Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund. After RSVPing (by today, Friday) at HospiceoftheValleys.org or 951-200-7800, those participating just need to drive to Hospice of the Valleys parking lot in Murrieta. At the parking lot, the vehicle will be provided with all that is needed for the creation of the memorable butterfly release.

Each person will receive a live butterfly, suggestions for creating a time of memory and sharing and a link to the program of music and the reading of the names of those being remembered.

Those coming to pick up the items should bring an insulated bag, a cold pack and a tea towel to keep the butterfly cool until the recipient arrives at home or a sacred place. Butterflies must be released within 30-40 minutes after pickup.

Car Show canceled

After considering all possible options with the COVID-19 restrictions, the Canyon Lake Car Club and Car Show Planning Committee has made the decision to cancel its show for 2020. This was a difficult decision for the committee to make, the club said, but health and safety concerns for its members and the community was a top priority.
