In Memoriam: Dorothy M. Wiseman

After 99 years and 2 months, The Lord called and Dorothy answered. Born April 17, 1921 in Los Angeles, she was raised with three brothers and a sister, all of whom have preceded her in returning to Father.

She met the love of her life, Charles Wiseman, and before long they eloped to Yuma, Arizona, with her father and mother in hot pursuit after finding out, in the hopes of stopping the marriage.

Alas, fortunate for them, they won the race, and passed her parents going the other  way on the way back to Los Angeles.

During their 69-plus years of marriage, they lived in Los Angeles, Glendale, La Crescenta, and finally came to Canyon Lake in their retirement years in 1986. With a waterfront home, ski boat and lots of family to come visit, they spent many years enjoying the amenities of Canyon Lake.

Preceding Dorothy in returning to Father was her son John. But she left behind daughters Carolyn Reed (Ralph) and Charlene Wright (John); grandchildren William Wright (Cyndee), Ken Wright (Kathy), Tim Wright (Chris), Holli Johnson and Jeremy Wiseman (Karalee); great grandchildren Kyle Wright (Amy), Tawnya Wright, Tyler Wright, Evan Wright, Randall Wright, Brielle Wright, Charlie Johnson, Sammy Johnson, Shane Wiseman, Haley Wiseman and Marin Wiseman; and great great grandchildren Brooklyn Rodriguez and Greysan Sage Wright.

Needing more help, Dorothy sold her home in Canyon Lake and moved to the Renaissance Village in Murrieta in 2017. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), family has been unable to visit her since mid-March.

When we received the call that she was failing and that they would allow us to see her, it was too late by the time we arrived, and she passed quietly in her sleep on June 18.

Graveside service will be held today (July 10) at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, where she will join her husband Charles.
