Start planning now for CL boat parade

The Yacht Club invites boat owners to enter this year’s annual Parade of Lights boat parade on Saturday, Dec. 14. The parade starts at 5:30 p.m. Lineup starts at 4:30 p.m. at the East Port Park launch ramp.

There is no entry fee; however, participants who do not submit an entry form will not be eligible for cash prizes and awards. The top-scoring boat will take home the coveted Commodore’s Award and $500. Awards also will be presented for the best boats in the categories of Ski, Pontoon, Club, First Timer and Yacht Club.

With the parade just four weeks away, now is the time for participants to start planning.

The Yacht Club is hosting a workshop for first time and past participants this Sunday, Nov. 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the home of Commodore Dave Dain at 22680 Lighthouse Dr. Past winners will share their tips on how to decorate an entry. The club will also be posting “Tip of the Day” tips and special announcements on social media in the weeks leading up to the parade.

Sponsorship opportunities are available and range from $150 to $500. For more information, contact Commodore Dain at ddain297@gmail.com.
