Canyon Lakers have the opportunity to help others through the city’s 8th annual Frozen Turkey and Food Drive on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. Residents are invited to give the gift of a Thanksgiving meal by donating a frozen turkey and other non-perishable items.
In previous years, the food collected was donated to Helping Our People of Elsinore (HOPE). This year, the food collected will be donated to Helping Hands, a Canyon Lake based organization that serves Canyon Lake and the surrounding areas.
Canyon Lake residents, clubs and businesses are encouraged to participate in the program to enable the community’s most vulnerable residents and their families to enjoy the holidays this year. A donation of a frozen turkey with all the trimmings can make a world of difference to a struggling family.
Participants may drop off frozen turkeys and non-perishable food items at City Hall, 31516 Railroad Canyon Rd., on the day of the drive.
The city is not able to store frozen turkeys and asks that residents not drop off donations prior to the date and time indicated.
Suggested items include frozen turkey, whole frozen chicken, stuffing mix, gravy mix, canned mushroom soup, canned green beans, canned yams and brown sugar, miniature marshmallows, cornbread mix, hot chocolate and coffee, cake and cookie mix, non-perishable items and other items of choice.
