Due to a scheduling conflict, the Canyon Lake Family Matters Club changed the date of its annual Quarter Mania “Fun”draiser to Nov. 24, from 12 to 4 p.m. at the lodge.

Doors open at noon for check-in and shopping at the vendor booths. The auction starts at 1 p.m.

General Admission ticket holders are required to bring their own quarters to bid on items. VIP ticket holders do not need to bring quarters to bid on items, they are automatically entered into all rounds of bidding. VIP ticket holders will also receive a goody bag and unlimited trips to the snack bar.

How does a Quarter Mania work? Quarter Mania is a cross between an auction and a raffle where participants use numbered paddles and bid quarters to win prizes. In short, numbered paddles are purchased in order to gain entry to the event. The auctioneer will display an item and state the number of quarters needed for a chance to win that particular item.

The guests who want to bid on the item put the specified number of quarters into the bucket on the table. A random numbered ball is pulled. The bidder holding the paddle that matches the number on the ball wins the item.

There will be two rounds. Round one items have an estimated value of $50 or higher and cost three quarters to bid on. Round two items have an estimated value of $30 or higher and cost two quarters to bid on.

Bidders can increase their chances of winning by purchasing an additional paddle for $5. There is a three paddle limit per person. If more than one paddle is used per round, the bidder must bid a quarter for each paddle used.

Space is limited to 100 bidders. Children under the age of 10 are not permitted at this event. Children ages 10 and older may participate if they have their own ticket. Seats are reserved for ticket holders. Vendor shopping is open to everyone.
