Enjoy food, music, contests at JWC’s Rocktoberfest

Hosted by the Jr. Woman’s Club, Rocktoberfest puts a twist on the traditional Oktoberfest. The 5th annual Rocktoberfest will be held tomorrow, Oct. 12, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Holiday Harbor Park. This year’s theme is Red, White and Brews. Patriotic attire is encouraged.

Rocktoberfest is about much more than great food, craft beer and live music. It’s about the community coming together to help raise money for the  JWC’s many philanthropic projects that benefit the Canyon Lake Community.

This year’s Rocktoberfest features beer tastings from local craft microbreweries, food and merchandise vendors, live music featuring The Bad Dancers, a Weiner Dog Race, a Beer Stein Holding Contest and a Cornhole Tournament.

Beer tasting stamp cards cost $20. A picture ID and a wristband will be required to purchase alcohol.

Every year, the club donates its beer tips to a worthy cause. In keeping with the Red, White and Brews theme, the club will be donating this year’s tips to local veterans associations.

The Jr. Women’s Club is a nonprofit philanthropy club that holds fundraising events throughout the year to help fund scholarship programs, help local families in need and donate to park improvements in Canyon Lake. Monthly club meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month.
